About the comedian: New Hope Cinema Grill is proud to present “Jason Schommer: Confessions of a Local Celebrity” a comedy album release show on Friday, Feb 24 at 8:30 PM!  Join comedian Jason Schommer with special guests Jodie Maruska, Wendy Maybury, Zach Coulter, Rox Tarrant and more guests to be announced soon for an evening of hysterical laughs!  “Confessions of a Local Celebrity”, Jason’s highly anticipated comedy album debut, was recorded live in front of a sold out audience at the Paramount Theater.                            Jason Schommer, named “What’s Hot For 2013” by Campus Activities Magazine, is a standup comedian and storyteller who spent two years as the opening act for comedy legend Louie Anderson in Las Vegas and continues to tour with Louie regularly.  Louie Anderson says “You’ll love Jason.  Jason is funny, clever, smart, and on his way to the big time! Go see Jason! It’s about time he recorded an album!”. Jason’s energetic style and relatable material has made him one of the region’s favorite entertainers.  Laugh-until-you-cry stories combine with playful one liners as Jason covers a wide array of topics ranging from the daily struggles of life and his loveable, yet kooky, Minnesotan family.  A special treat is his hilarious insight into pop culture and the celebrity crazed world in which we live with outrageous encounters with celebrities such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Dolly Parton.  Kathy Griffin even gave Jason a shout out during her show! Jason ventured into the world of stand up comedy while working on The Rosie O’Donnell Show in New York City.  The show’s writers thought he was funny, so they signed him up to perform at the New York Comedy Club.  Jason easily won over the crowd with his quick wit and high energy performance.  Like many comics, he was hooked immediately and from there he has taken off to rave reviews and a rapidly growing fan base by performing all over the USA and beyond in such entertainment destinations as New York City, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Chicago, Canada as well as Japan where he performed for the troops stationed in Okinawa!  A natural storyteller, Jason has performed at numerous storytelling events and took first place at The Moth for the theme “The Dark Side” and “Risk” and was invited to perform at the The Moth Grand Slam at the Fitzgerald Theater where he wowed the audience with the hilarious tale of running into Carnie Wilson from the music group Wilson Phillips.  Jason is currently working on writing a TV show pilot with Louie Anderson and recently recorded his first live comedy album “Confessions of a Local Celebrity” which is being released February 2017. From his auspicious start in New York City to the present, Jason is always a crowd favorite and has quickly become one of the most distinctive and hysterical stand up comics working today.
